Recording & Legal Notice
Please read this before you use iWatch to record anything. Recording law is not the same everywhere, and the responsibility for following it is yours.
Recording and privacy laws differ by state and country. Some places require the consent of everyone being recorded; some do not. Audio is often treated differently from video, and private spaces differently from public ones. Before you record, make sure you understand the law where you are. iWatch does not provide legal advice.
1. Your responsibility
You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws when you use iWatch, including laws about recording other people, consent, wiretapping, privacy, and the recording of law-enforcement officers. iWatch provides a tool; it does not determine whether your use of that tool is lawful in your situation.
2. Audio recording
Video Mode captures audio only where doing so is legally permitted. In some jurisdictions the consent of all parties is required before audio may be recorded. Audio Only mode is subject to the same rules.
3. Traffic stops and interactions with officials
Rules about recording during a traffic stop or other interaction with officials vary considerably, and may include restrictions on interference. Only record where it is legally permitted and safe to do so, and follow lawful instructions.
4. Evidence and legal proceedings
A recording made with iWatch is documentation. Whether any particular recording is admissible or useful in a legal proceeding is determined by the relevant court or authority under the applicable rules of evidence. iWatch makes no representation about admissibility.
5. Emergencies
iWatch is not a replacement for emergency services and does not contact them on your behalf. In an emergency, contact 911 or the appropriate local emergency service whenever it is safe and possible to do so.
6. No legal advice
Nothing on this website or in the iWatch app is legal advice. If you are unsure whether recording is lawful in your circumstances, consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction.
